PM Chastanet defends decision to welcome back American tourists

On Wednesday Prime Minister Allen Chastanet joined CNBC’s Power Lunch to discuss why American tourists are being welcome back to Saint Lucia and the Caribbean, even as the rest of the world bans travelers from the U.S. The government has been heavily criticized by some members of the public and the Opposition for this move but Chastanet assures that the right balance has been found between opening the country’s doors, and protecting the safety of guests and nationals. To date Saint Lucia has recorded a total of 25 cases of COVID-19 and there have been no deaths.
