In a recent interview on DBS, Prime Minister Kenny Anthony spoke about rumours that he was suffering from cancer.
Dr Anthony’s comments have resonated in the region and were picked up by The Caribbean Media Corporation.
In the local television interview Dr Anthony dispel the rumours that he is receiving treatment for cancer.
“I am lost at to how the rumour started, but I first heard of it after last general elections. I am not sure why someone would have started this, but that is not so, I am fine and in good health,” he said to DBS.
Following last November 28th’s general election there were rumours that Anthony, who led his St Lucia Labour Party (SLP) back into office after a five year stint in opposition, was suffering from prostate cancer after former foreign affairs minister Rufus Bousquet admitted publicly that he was suffering with it.
The health of elected officials, in St Lucia, and the region has long been an issue for voters. Some of whom have called for full disclosure by politicians of the medical state. The issue came to the fore when now deceased former prime minister Sir John Compton died shortly after winning the 2006 general elections.
