PM names election date!

At a mammoth rally of the United Workers Party in the William Peter Boulevard on Sunday evening Prime Minister Stephenson King announced that elections would be held on 28th November 2011. The evening featured speeches and performances by local artistes who got an energetic crowd of thousands jumping and waving. As the Prime Minister prepared to announce the date there was the usual teasing of the the crowd. He spoke about his “genuine love” for the people of St Lucia and said that on Valentine’s Day this year he had already decided on an election date. He first announced that parliament would be dissolved on November 7th followed by Nomination Day on November 17th. The PM said that with his birthday also in November he was happy with the date selected.
