John Flavien, a Police Constable of 22 years service was arrested on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Constable Flavien was arrested after officers attached to the Rodney Bay Police Station responded to a report of two males fighting at Reduit Beach, Rodney Bay.
It is alleged that during the altercation, the officers who responded to the report were assaulted by Constable Flavien.
On Tuesday, September 9, 2014, ten (10) charges were laid against Constable Flavien. The charges are as follows; six (6) counts of assault, one (1) count of harm, one (1) count of damage to property, one (1) count of disorderly behavior, and one (1) count of resisting arrest.
Bail was set in the sum of $500.00 on each count of assault, $2,000.00 on the count of harm, $500.00 on the count of damage to property, $1,000.00 on the count of disorderly behavior and $2,000.00 on the count of resisting arrest. The bail amounts could either be cash or suitable surety.
He is required to report to the Beat and Patrol Division once a week and to surrender all travel documents. He is scheduled to make a court appearance before the First District Court in Gros Islet on September 18, 2014 for case management.
