Police say Kimberly de Leon Samples due here Today or Tomorrow

Kimberly Williams-De Leon’s friends and family might soon get an update on the investigation into her death.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he January 8 Royal Saint Lucia Police Force presser opened with Commissioner Severin Monchery providing a short update on the investigation of the fatal shooting of Kimberly Williams-De Leon. Monchery had relayed to the media in November last year, that samples from the crime scene had been sent overseas for testing.

When pressed for further information this week, the commissioner denied he had promised the results of forensic lab analysis would be in Saint Lucia a week following his initial announcement. He offered this correction: “I said I would have an update by the following week.”

At the press meeting this week, he said: “Up to this morning [Tuesday] I spoke to the Commissioner in St. Kitts. Those samples have been analysed and the results are waiting to be picked up. We are supposed to be collecting those results on Thursday. An officer is supposed to be going up there to return by the weekend. So by next week I should be in a position to give you an update as to the analyses done.”

The STAR has confirmed that an officer travelled to St. Kitts on Thursday and is expected back in Saint Lucia “by the weekend”. As for Kimberly’s husband, a police sergeant earlier declared “a person of interest” until that information was withdrawn, Commissioner Monchery confirmed he’s still on leave.
