Police say man shot & killed while robbing house

Police are reporting that on Wednesday 5 December 2012 about 1:45am, Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department was summoned to the residence of a prominent city businessman at Vigie, Castries.

 Information received indicates a male individual was shot whilst burglarizing the dwelling house of that businessman.

The individual whose identity has not yet been ascertained was transported to the Victoria Hospital via ambulance. He was treated and admitted in a critical condition.

Later that morning, about 4:25 am, he succumbed to his injury.

At the time of the incident, officers recovered a blackberry, quantity of cash and jewellery in the crotch of that individual. A black garbage bag with several electronic items and articles of clothing belonging to the parents of the businessman was also found by police.

A post mortem is scheduled for Friday 7 December 2012 pending the confirmation of the identity of the individual.

Investigations in the matter are ongoing.
