Police seize weapons!

On Wednesday 21 November 2012 the operational units of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force conducted several operational exercises within the Gros Islet, Babonneau and Castries area.

During these exercises officers recovered a .38 Revolver, 5 rounds of live .38 ammunition and 56 live rounds of 9mm ammunition at an abandon house in Wilton’s Yard, Castries.

No one was arrested in relation to that incident.

At the end of the exercise the Officers had recovered 206 foil wraps of Crack Cocaine, 644 grams of Marijuana and 22 weapons including knives and scissors.

A 27 year old individual of Babonneau was also arrested for Possession of a Controlled Drug to wit Marijuana and Possession with the Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug.

The said individual is expected to be charged later.

Meanwhile on Monday 19 November 2012, Officers attached to the Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on the premises of a 28 year old man and 28 year old woman. Both individuals are originally from Pavee but reside at Maynard Hill.

During the search, the Officers recovered a .22 rifle and 3 live rounds of .22 ammunition.

The two were subsequently arrested and charged for the offences of Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

They appeared before the court on Tuesday 20 November 2012.

Both individuals were remanded in custody until Thursday 22 November 2012.
