The second round of the Premiere National Table Tennis League continued with two matches at the Castries Table Tennis Centre with Dragons playing two consecutive matches, first against the Carbons and then against the Challengers.
In the first set Vandyke Jude of Carbons lost to Derrick Destang of Dragons 6-11, 12-10, 6-11, 6-11; Wayne Benn of Carbons was defeated by Bertland Shepherd of Dragons 5-11, 9-11, 11-3, 6-11.
In doubles action Benn and Jude lost to Shepherd and Destang 0-11, 3-11, 4-11; In reverse singles Jude lost to Shepherd 6-11, 9-11, 5-11 and Benn was beaten by Destang 8-11, 5-11, 5-11. Dragons won the match 5-0.
Dragons second match against the powerful Challengers was a different cup of tea altogether.
In the first set Bertland Shepherd of Dragons was disposed by Jedaiah Pierre of Challengers in straight games 10-12, 7-11, 9-11; Derrick Destang of Dragons was no match for Adrian Albert of Challengers losing 13-15, 0-11, 8-11.
In doubles action, Destang and Shepherd gained some ground by eking out a victory in five tough games 10-12, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-6; In reverse singles Shepherd was demolished by Albert in straight games 5-11, 5-11, 11-13 and Destang could not handle the relentless attack of Pierre losing 6-11, 2-11, 8-11.
