[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he 2018 National Carnival Queen Competition has already set the bar higher than ever before with its first official event for the year. On Wednesday the eight finalists of the competition were invited to The Landings Resort and Spa to be assigned their respective sponsors. The occasion was one of prestige and elegance. Contestants introduced themselves in a dramatic spotlight and proceeded downstairs to meet their sponsor’s representatives, who exited from an elevator—everything executed like a slick theatrical performance. The glowing runway was the centre of attention, from which all attendees could behold the beauty and poise of the young women. Other décor and set-up were a cut above the usual.
The competition will take place on June 30. In the interim the contestants will prepare for the stage and represent sponsors at various events. Things have already started with a bang. No doubt the plan is to end with an unprecedented climax!
The National Carnival Queen Committee also had a new concept of a wild card contestant. Although nobody likes an odd number, Jevani Joseph may just be the exception. She was introduced as Miss Nato’s but doesn’t seem like she has much catching up to do!
