PRIME MINISTER LAUDS POLICE OFFICERS ASSISTING IN DOMINICA

Members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) have received high praise and commendation from the Government and People of the Commonwealth of Dominica for their service and assistance in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Erika.

Prime Minister Anthony enjoys a light moment with the crew of the RSLPF vessel Defender.
During a visit by Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony to Dominica on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit expressed his gratitude to the servicemen, noting that they have been working tirelessly to assist with evacuation and the transportation of supplies to some affected areas.

Officials from the Dominica Coast Guard also showered praise upon the officers of the Marine Unit and Special Services Unit (SSU) and highlighted their dedication to the cause and eagerness to assist in every way possible.

Dr. Anthony visited Saint Lucia’s first response team onboard the Defender at the Dominica Coast Guard base in Fond Cole, Roseau to express his gratitude for their service and to relay the reviews he had received during his earlier encounters.

During his brief exchange with the officers, the Prime Minister said, “This visit would not be complete if I did not stop by to tell you how proud I am of you and how grateful the people of Dominica are for your presence and help thus far. The feedback has been remarkable. At home you are also being celebrated for your service. I simply want to tell you that the people of Saint Lucia are proud of what you do and, here in Dominica, you are appreciated.”

In response, one of the officers said he is happy that they are being recognized for their service and efforts in Dominica. This, according to him, gives him and his colleagues the zeal to continue to work to represent Saint Lucia well and, critically, to bring help to the people of Dominica who are depending on their service.

The officers left Saint Lucia on the morning of Saturday, August 29, 2015 on board the Defender.
