The Saint Lucia Tourist Board presented the world with the line-up for St Lucia’s Jazz annual jazz festival minutes ago. Now renamed “the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival”, Minister for Tourism Lorne Theophilus explained that the festival would now have a cultural component. This year’s festival will also see the return of popular fringe activities like Jazz on the Square, Jazz on the Beach and Balenbouche Jazz.
This year’s Jazz main stage events at Pigeon Island will feature some big names in the music industry. On Friday
Saturday May 11 will feature Trinidad’s David Rudder, Nigeria’s Tony Allen, Tito Puente Jr (he son of legendary mambo musician Tito Puente) and R&B singer Akon.
The headliner for the Sunday show will be R. Kelly. Also performing that night are Boo
Hinkson, Brian Culbertson and The Ojays.
