[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ay is fast coming to a close but not before Rick Wayne takes the Chair. He will be the featured writer for the Saint Lucia Writers Forum’s regular month-end reading activity. Rick is one of the writers most requested by forum members seeking to learn from his wide experience. Rick Wayne’s reputation precedes him. He is a particularly harsh critic of governments and their policies.
Rick is also famous in the health and fitness world having captured the titles of Mr Universe and Mr World on more than one occasion. He has travelled widely and resided in several first world countries, until finally he decided to return to his homeland to contribute to its development. He and his wife Mae, also once a big name in competitive bodybuilding in the United States, established the Star Publishing Company which is in its 30th year of operation.
Mr Wayne has authored several books relating to bodybuilding and politics. He is best known here for his political titles: It’ll Be Alright In the Morning, Foolish Virgins, and Lapses & Infelicities. He will be reading excerpts from the last mentioned when he takes the Chair at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, May 30, at the Central Library, in Castries. Rick will also entertain questions from the audience.
The event is free and open to the public. The Forum continues to host the event in honour of the late Nobel laureate Derek Walcott. It is an event that the late Sir Derek twice attended.
The public is kindly invited to attend this auspicious event and is encouraged to be on time and support the continued work of the Writers Forum which turns 20 next year.
