Judging by his comments over the last few months it came as no surprise that Bousquet who lost his seat by 95 votes, was totally uninterested in the election petition his party had mounted challenging the results in his constituency and two others.
His no-show at the court hearing on Thursday morning saw the petition on his behalf being struck out by the judge.
Speaking to RCI’s Timothy Poleon yesterday Bousquet had this to say: “I have enough personal issues to deal with which to my mind transcend trying to go to court and fighting an impossible battle. From the very outset I indicated that I have very little interest in doing that. The people of Choiseul have spoken. I expected to win the election in the ballot box; I did not so I would therefore not pursue it in a courthouse . . . I just want to go on with my life and see what I can do for myself and my family. I am not interested in any court case.”
The host of the show then questioned whether there was any communication between the UWP leadership and Bousquet. Surely the party would not ahead with a case when Bousquet refused to be a claimant.
“That communication would have saved the United Workers Party and its legal tem the embarrassment they suffered in court,” said Poleon.
