The Government of Saint Lucia is calling on all Saint Lucians, at home and abroad, to come together in reflection and prayer and in that regard has declared Monday May 24th 2021 as a National Day of Prayer and Fasting from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
This day of national togetherness in spirit is expected to feature participation from all local faith-based organisations; with church services, gospel performances, prayer, spoken word and testimonies, and will be carried live via the National Television Network, Partner Stations and through live streaming. Taking into account social distancing protocols this virtual platform will encourage full national participation.
The decision for the National Day of Prayer and Fasting was taken by the Cabinet of Ministers, following discussions with Church Leaders, and after careful reflection on the past year and recognizing that we are in unprecedented times.
We acknowledge that as a people we can do nothing without Christ and as a Christian Nation our source is greater than ourselves and we need God to overcome our challenges. We are calling on all Saint Lucians to come together on this day in one mind and one spirit in deepening our spiritual engagement through Prayer & Fasting, Praise and Thanksgiving on behalf our beloved nation, Saint Lucia.
All are invited to spend the day in reflection and virtual fellowship regardless of religious persuasion and to take some time for positive reflection, for meditation, to spread hope and comfort and build solidarity.
