Saint Lucia records 34th homicide; RSLPF seizes €31,560 and EC $10,100 during search of residence in Vieux Fort

The country has recorded the 34th homicide for the year. Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), George Nicholas, made the disclosure during a press briefing today, Thursday. He stated that on Wednesday, officers responded to a shooting at Bel Air, Marigot. “Upon arrival, police discovered the motionless body of 37-year-old Yan Charlemagne at his residence. What appeared to be gun shot wounds was noticed about his body. He was subsequently pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.”

No arrests have been made in relation to this incident.

The Acting ACP also reported that on Wednesday, police seized a large quantity of cash during an operation in Vieux Fort. “Police continue to mount several operations in and around Saint Lucia and on Wednesday 16th September, 2020, police from the south mounted an operation in the south, and during which a search was conducted at a residence in La Ressource, Vieux Fort,” he said.

Nicholas continued: “During that time a quantity of cash was seized at that residence. The cash amounted to € 31,560 and EC $10,100. One man was taken into custody but he has since been released. The monies were handed over to the Financial Investigation Authority to commence forfeiture proceedings.”
