The photography fraternity in Saint Lucia is mourning the loss of one of their own. In a statement today, April 28, the Association of Professional Photographers St. Lucia announced: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of one of Saint Lucia’s most esteemed photographers Ray Hardy. We all want to remember his family and friends in this tough time and keep them in our prayers. Ray’s outstanding sense of humor and breathtaking wedding shots will surely be missed.”
Per Hardy’s bio on his website karaymedia.com, he was born in England and came to live in Saint Lucia in 2002. He developed a love for photography at an early age and recalled winning his first competition in the United Kingdom at age 12, and at 16, photographed his first wedding. “I’d had a step-father who was a superb photographer, so my childhood had primed me for my future career… 30 years later, I’m now half-English, half St. Lucian, have photographed and planned over 1500 weddings here,” his bio says.
