SALCC students victorious

The 15th annual Caribbean Youth Science Forum (CYSF) was hosted by NIHERST and  held from the 4th to the 11th August, 2013 in Trinidad.  This forum is designed specifically for lower sixth form students from around the Caribbean and showcases various aspects within the fields of Science and Technology. The forum exposes students to as many fields of science through lectures, field trips, workshops, and also through meeting one on one with scientists at the top of their fields from around the region. Students are also expected to participate in many social and cultural activities as well as a Design Challenge Competition. This year the challenge for the teams was to build a trebuchet- a medieval siege weapon.

Five students from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College: Brandon Scott, Khisna Walter, Shemaiah Leon, Krista Gerald and Vernil Ferdinand, along with their chaperone Mrs. Alberta William-Henry, were given the opportunity to attend the forum. St Lucia claimed the 3rd place price overall in the competition, out of a total of 44 colleges from around the Caribbean.
