The William Jefferson Ballroom at Sandals Grande has been home to some of the country’s most prestigious events from heads of states dinners and conferences to cultural showpiece for the just concluded Royal visit, and even though it hasn’t rivaled the national occasions in profile, the Prestige Awards presentation held at the venue recently can certainly match in style. The room which was named after US President Bill Clinton when he visited St. Lucia was transformed into a colourful contemporary theatre decked with chic garb by a discerning Sandals Grande team ready to make a fashion statement. Some of the world’s most opulent clothing brands in dresses, suits and bags were part of the collection leaving nothing to imagination that the night was grande. It was however, not only about style but much substance, as its main purpose was to recognize the extraordinary efforts of team members from the five-star diamond said General Manager Winston Anderson.
“Tonight is about you our team members without whom we could not have achieved such an outstanding year. You have taken us so far but yet there is still a long road ahead and we are confident that we will get there because of you,” Anderson said to the applause of a jubilant crowd.
Awards were given in the categories of best smile, courtesy, most environmentally aware and Sandals Foundation community spirit award. The big winner for the night however was the housekeeping team who copped the department of the year award whilst Ashley Chung was declared team member of the year. Shavaun Hippolyte was the manager of the year and Julie Budhoo was named Supervisor of the year.
