SENIOR BRITISH CONSULAR OFFICIAL VISITS SAINT LUCIA

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]rs Meg Williams, the British Government’s Consular Regional Director for the Americas and Caribbean, made her first visit to Saint Lucia on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th February. Mrs Williams is responsible for overseeing the delivery of assistance to British people living, travelling and working in the region when they are most in need, including in times of crisis.

Included in Mrs William’s itinerary were calls on the Ministry for Home Affairs and Security, Police Commissioner Severin Moncherry, Director Fernanda Henry at the St Lucia Forensic Science Laboratory and the Vulnerable Persons Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

Mrs Williams, who concluded her programme by hosting a reception at the British High Commission, thanked a wide range of partners in government, the tourist and hotel industry, transport and other sectors who play a key role in ensuring British visitors to the island have an enjoyable and safe stay in Saint Lucia. Seventy thousand British tourists visit Saint Lucia every year, making it one of the UK’s most popular Caribbean holiday destinations.

Mrs Williams was joined on her programme by Consular Officials from the British High Commissions in both Castries and Bridgetown.
