For the weekend of October 1 to 5, the St. Lucia Fire Service recorded one hundred and forty-nine ambulance responses. These include twelve responses to motor vehicular incidents, five responses to calls relating to physical assaults and two responses to shooting incidents. There were three fire calls.
The responding officers found two injured male individuals on the scene. One individual sustained abrasions to his legs and a penetrating wound to his foot. The other individual, who was reported as being struck by a motorcycle, sustained injuries to his legs and waist. Both patients were treated and subsequently transported to the OKEU Hospital for further medical care.
One individual, who was identified as Kareem Clarke and the rider of the motorcycle, was found lying on his back appearing to be in a combative state. A rapid assessment revealed that the patient sustained a severe laceration to the back of his head. He was immobilized and his wound was bandaged. The patient was subsequently transferred to the ambulance, where he provided rapid emergency transportation to the OKEU Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The drivers of the other vehicles, refused medical assistance and both signed the release forms.
Responders were led to the balcony of a residential structure where one male individual, identified as Terry Clarke, was found lying on his side. He was assessed and it was revealed that he sustained a penetrating wound to his body. With the absence of vital signs, CPR was immediately initiated while his wound was treated. The patient was provided rapid emergency transportation, during which his condition remained unchanged. He was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner at the St. Jude Hospital.
