Soca’s First Couple Returns to WCMF

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]oca’s first couple Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons return to the stage of Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival when they perform on the closing night, Sunday 29^th October, at Festival City, Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau, Dominica.

Bunji Garlin, born Ian Anthonio Alvarez of St. Lucian and Venezuelan descent and his wife, Fay-Ann Lyons, daughter of successful soca artiste SuperBlue, are multiple winners of Trinidad and Tobago road march, international soca monarch and international groovy soca monarch champions. The talented duo are among the leading lights of Caribbean music and ambassadors of the soca sound around the world.

Their return to the 20^th edition of the festival is sure to please the legion of fans and lovers of soca music attending this year’s Festival. The couple first performed at the Festival in 2011 creating a wave of excitement with their unique style, diverse mix of soca rhythms, fashion sense and high energy on stage.

They are expected to again reign supreme with their many hits of the last few years, including Bunji’s mega hit Differentology, a Soul Train Award for Best International Performance in 2013; Fay-Ann’s 2017 hit, Girls and Bunji’s Big Bad Soca of 2017; all with a mix of Dominica’s Bouyon music like they did during their last performance at the Festival.

Bunji and Fay-Ann, award winning soca artistes, husband and wife team and music entrepreneurs who have performed to audiences worldwide and known for their distinctive mix of soca music as well as their winning qualities as artistes will combine to deliver another memorable performance and represent the soca music brand.

The 20^th edition of Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival is slated for October 27-29 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau, Dominica. A line-up of top local, regional, and international acts covering a diverse range of creole music from the infectious Bouyon to the sweet sensation of Soca and Calypso, Reggae, Afro-funk, Haitian Kompas to the vibrating sounds of Cadence-lypso and Zouk awaits patrons. On this year’s exciting line-up are Machel Montano, Kalash, Mavado, Yemi Alade, Bunji Garlin & Fay-Ann Lyons, Sweet Micky, Kai, Etana, Romain Virgo, Klass, Marcé & Tumpak, Asa Bantan, Triple Kay International, Mizik à Nou All Stars, Breve, Swingin’ Stars, and the Zouk All Stars featuring Jean Marc Ferdinand, Orlane, Francky Vincent, and Stéphane Ravor.
