Spain Donates 3,000 paediatric(5 to 11 years old) Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccines to St. Lucia?

In line with its staunch advocacy for fair, equitable and universal access to Covid-19 vaccines, on July 27th, Spain donated a new batch of 3,000 doses of paediatric vaccines (Pfizer) for children aged 5 to 11 years to St. Lucia.

This donation is in addition to the 7,800 Johnson & Johnson doses donated in December last year through the COVAX mechanism.

These figures place Spain as one of the largest vaccine donors in the country and the second largest on the continent. They demonstrate, once again, Spain’s commitment to the health and well-being of the Saint Lucean people.

Spain is fully committed to efforts to achieve the highest possible immunisation and to facilitate access to vaccines for all countries and age groups.

This donation is one more action of the “Team Europe” in St. Lucia formed by the EU and its Member States.

Spain fulfilled the commitment made by the Prime Minister at the G-20 Summit in Rome (30-31 October) to donate more than 50 million vaccines in the first quarter of 2022. As of today, Spain has donated more than 60 million doses. Furthermore, our Prime Minister made the commitment last May in the Second Global COVID-19 Summit to donate 100 million vaccines worldwide if the epidemiological context requires it.   Of the Spanish vaccine donations so far, 30 million have been allocated to African countries, more than 20 million to Latin America and the Caribbean countries and over 10 million to Asian countries.
