Specialty Caribbean Expo this Weekend

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]or business to grow, business must help business.” That was the underlying message on Thursday, March 9 at the official opening of the Specialty Caribbean Expo at the Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium. The remarks came from CEO of Amerijet, Francilia Scott. Amerijet is the presenting sponsor of the Expo. Other speakers on the occasion included Richard Du Boulay, Chairman of the National Export Council, and President of the Saint Lucia Manufacturing Association; Natasha Edwin-Walcott, Research, Policy Advocacy and Communications Manager of Invest Saint Lucia; Didier Deris from the Martinique Chamber of Commerce; Didicus Jules, Director General, OECS; Commerce Minister Bradley Felix, and Prime Minister Allen Chastanet. Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister and Commerce Minister both participated in the symbolic cutting of the ribbon and declared the event open.

The Expo will continue this weekend at the Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium. Among activities scheduled are seminars and meetings on topics ranging from Selling to the UK Market, to road-mapping exporting services in wider markets. A music workshop, film screenings, an OECS ‘expoZING Music’ showcase, and business mixer form part of the activities slated for Saturday, March 11, while the Expo featuring businesses from around the Caribbean is open to the public, and will run throughout the day. On Sunday there will be another film screening, a last lap round of the Expo, and a closing ceremony.
