The Saint Lucia Athletics Association (SLAA) would like to extend its best wishes and support to Levern Spencer and Albert Reynolds as they compete at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Spencer is the reigning Pan Am Champion, CAC Champion, NACAC Champion and Commonwealth Champion. She is the reigning Pan American Games gold medalist in the high jump. The qualification round for this event took place on Friday September 27, with the finals on Monday September 30.
Reynolds, the 2019 Pan American Games bronze medalist in the javelin, was allotted a spot in the World Championships last week as spaces in the javelin event became available. The qualification round for the men’s javelin is scheduled for Saturday October 5, with the finals on Sunday October 6.
Both athletes are working towards qualifying for the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, and are aiming to attain that qualification standard at these World Athletics Championships.
SLAA President Cornelius Breen arrived in Doha on September 24 to attend the IAAF Congress, during which the IAAF elections will take place.
