A new Board of Directors for the St. Jude’s Hospital has been installed and fully oriented with the various and significant initiatives on the institutions front burner.
The chairmanship of the new administering body is retained by Mr. Percival McDonald, with Mrs. Lelia Harracksingh as deputy chair. The remainder of the Board comprises retired Accountant and entrepreneur Mr. Bryan Chitolie, Accounting & Brokerage professional Ms. Fabiana Chedy, Principal of the Belle Vue Combined School Ms. Zilma Poleon, Banker Ms. Lena St. Clair, Statistician Mr. Paul Kallicheran, Obstetrician/Gynaecologist Dr. Clare Louisy and Community health Nurse Ms. Juliette Joseph. This composition sought to make available to the hospital’s management a mix of both professional and local interests.
Since assuming office, the new Board has had the benefit of several sittings, and extensive briefings in respect of the hospital reconstruction project and the temporary hospital facility at the George Odlum Stadium.
“We are very pleased with the progress both of the construction itself and with the preparation of the human resource.” said Board Chairman Percival Mc Donald.
Mr Mc Donald said the Board is heartened at the very strategic approach being taken by the hospital’s management to ensure the best customer experience once St Jude reopens its doors from a transformed and modern facility.
A high level official team is scheduled to undertake a walk-through of the reconstruction project towards the end of June. The delegation will be led by the Prime Minister and Parliamentary Representative for Vieux Fort North Hon. Dr. Kenny Anthony and will also include the Health Minister Hon. Alvina Reynolds and other Government representatives. Construction with full commissioning of the new facility is scheduled for year end.
