St Vincent win Caribbean Street Football challenge

St Lucia’s Platinum FC of Vieux Fort finished in fourth place at the inaugural Guinness Greatest of the Streets Small Goals Caribbean Street Football final which concluded in Guyana at the weekend.
In the third place play off St Lucia lost one goal to nil to Trinidad and Tobago while in the championship decider, St Vincent and the Grenadines won over host country Guyana 2-0. The Guyanese had played unbeaten up to that stage of the competition.
In the semi-finals Guyana had defeated Platinum FC of St Lucia 1-0, while St Vincent and the Grenadines won in a penalty shootout after they played to a one all draw with Trinidad and Tobago.
For their victory the Vincentians received US$4,000 and they will have a street football facility built in the community of the winners. The second place Guyanese team took home US$2,000, third place Trinidad and Tobago won US$1,500 while fourth placed St Lucia pocketed US$1,000.
The St Lucians returned home Sunday afternoon from the championships in Guyana.
