Suspected Drowning at Bay St. Gros Islet

In a video making the rounds on Social media on Sunday morning, a crowd could be seen circled around the lifeless body of a man at a beach up in Gros Islet. Two persons were seen administering CPR to the body. The man would later be identified as 25 year old Selva Donatien of Nortre Dame Street, Gros Islet.

Police report that a suspected drowning was referred to the Gros Islet Police Station, about 8:05 a.m. on Sunday May 28, 2023.

On arrival at the scene Officers were informed that Selva Donatien was transported to the Gros Islet Polyclinic via ambulance. He was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner. Investigations are continuing into this incident.

A post mortem examination is scheduled for a later date.
