Table Tennis Gold for St Lucia

The St Lucia National Senior Men’s Team of Adrian Albert, Chris Wells and Omarie Ferdinand copped the gold medal in the French Antilles Table Tennis Team Championships held in Martinique over the Easter weekend.

St Lucia defeated Martinique ‘A’ 3-1, Martinique ‘B’ 3-1, French Guyana 3-2, and Brazil 3-2. St Lucia’s single loss was against Guadeloupe 3-2 in a nail-biting match which ended at 12:45 am.  However Guadeloupe lost to French Guyana and Martinique ‘A’.

In the Men’s Singles St Lucia’s Adrian Albert secured a bronze medal after reaching the semi-finals of the Singles Championships. The team of Chris Wells and Adrian Albert also secured a bronze medal in the Men’s Doubles losing to the Brazilians 3-2 in the doubles semi-finals.

The Junior team of 13-year-old Mario St Cyr and 14-year-old Tristan Matthews were unsuccessful at the Under-18 Junior championships losing all their matches. The experience however will serve them well for the future.
