It Takes a Cheat to Know a Cheat?

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]erhaps the most discombobulating news this week was that ‘felon bae’ was now dating a billionaire heiress – and who knew he was married? I’ve had a crush on him ever since those mug shots came out and I was almost knocked off my feet at the realization that the blue-eyed bandit, otherwise known as Jeremy Meeks, even had kids of his own! Yet, there he was on the yacht of some mystery woman. The last I’d heard, he had been barred from entering the UK and, if the news reports are true, he probably won’t be able to walk any runways there anytime soon. But what was he doing out on a yacht in the middle of the ocean?

Pictures of his wife Melissa and their kids popped up everywhere; she’d held him down for years, despite multiple convictions. Yet, there he still was kissing this other woman in plain sight without a care in the world! At home his wife was fuming, but all she posted on IG was a meme to the effect that it was her against the world. She’d been his “ride or die”, it seemed to her detriment.

As I scoured the blogs to get the facts I discovered that the mystery blond was none other than Top Shop heiress Chloe Green. Commentators were all over the story on YouTube, and the perspective I found most fitting came from ‘Lovely Ti’. Women, she said, needed to get rid of the mentality of being the ‘ride or die’ chick.

“It’s not a good thing,” she said. “Stop being a ride or die for these guys because, guess what? Most of them wouldn’t be ride or die for you. Be ride or die for yourself first and foremost, both men and women. Put yourself on the pedestal before you put the other person.”

The hot convict had opened the floodgates, and the topic of cheating was free for all.

 “Most men cheat,” came the familiar chorus. “Many start to get serious around 50 when they’re all used up, like we want those leftovers.”

“Yeah,” another woman agreed, “then they try to get some young woman to take care of them. Take his money sisters, and leave his old used up self.”

Yikes. It definitely was not a good week for the gents on the web. At least not in the comments. Yet another: “They start to change and want to settle down when they need a good woman who’s gonna change their dippers (sic) when they’re old.”

Of course a few brave gentlemen dared to intervene; something about women being just as bad, and capable of cheating too, which was quickly shut down by the online mob. One woman summed up what most others were thinking: “A man could have the most beautiful woman in the world. She could cook, clean, do everything that he wants, and then he’ll cheat, because it’s like a sport for y’all. Women only cheat when they’re not satisfied or in a healthy relationship. If a woman is happy, I don’t think she’s going to cheat. Why would she need to?”

And then came the Black Chyna scenario. This week her baby daddy Rob Kardashian basically slut-shamed her, splashing her nudes and screen shots of their conversations all over social media. The Kardashian accused Chyna of cheating and not caring for her children. In response, Chyna let the world know she had nothing but love for her kids, and that she’d left their relationship because it was toxic. Surprise, surprise, she got more love than hate after his attempt to tarnish her already shaky reputation. Did she cheat on him? Who knows? Was he justified in exposing private photos in an attempt to shame her? Absolutely not!

When it comes to cheating, from all accounts it’s safe to say the topic will not soon be exhausted. In the midst of all the chaos, I can only encourage everyone to be straightforward and honest when it comes to matters of the heart. We’ll all be much better for it in the end!
