THE LONG AWAITED CONSTRUCTION OF NEW JETTIES IN SAVANNES BAY AND PRASLIN BAY

Complete Marine Services Ltd (CMS) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Production, Fisheries Cooperatives and Rural Development (MAFFCR)to build two new jetties in Savannes Bay and Praslin Bay. The official signing ceremony took place on 10th April, 2015.

The project, which is funded by the Government of St. Lucia and the Republic of China (Taiwan), is being managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure. Sam Verity, Managing Director of CMS, stated “I am very pleased that CMS has the opportunity to work on a project with such significant community benefits. We recognise how important these new jetties are to both the fishing communities of Savannes and Praslin Bays and to Government and we are very conscious of the trust and confidence placed in us by MAFFCR. CMS is a St. Lucian company, almost entirely staffed by St. Lucian nationals, and we plan to use as much local labour as we can, drawn from the Savannes and Praslin communities.”

The Honourable Moses Jn Baptiste, Minister of MAFFCR, commented, “The completion of the Jetties Project has been anticipated for over one year. The project, which started with the construction of the two concrete abutments earlier this year 2015, will serve fishers, seamoss farmers and individuals from the area who engage in touristic activities. The Government of Saint Lucia appreciates the generosity of the Taiwanese Government and the patience of the fishers of the area. Congratulations to Complete Marine Services Ltd and I look forward to the completion of two world class jetties for the people of Savannes Bay in the south and Praslin in the east.”

Complete Marine Services Ltd (www.cms-sl.com) was founded in 2004 and acquired by the present management in 2008. It is active in both onshore and offshore piling, marine construction and underwater maintenance. Current projects include the foundation piling of the new St. Lucia Dive Centre and Harbour Club Hotel at the southern end of Rodney Bay Marina, including sheet piling the land/sea interface and the installation of boat lifts, walkways and retaining walls.
