There exists a US. $1,000,000 bounty on anyone that can provide evidence of a paranormal occurrence. The bounty has remained unclaimed since 1964.

Find me a Non-Hollywood video of a demon possession. In the age of smartphones, you’d think supernatural occurrences would be commonplace on Youtube. Where are the Viral videos of demons, levitation and the like?

The truth is, outside of your imagination, and childish stories, these things simply don’t exist. Perpetual ignorance is all that keeps these “stories” going. (eg. Santa Claus)

Education is the only thing that will lift us out of this mire.

It pains me to see that our education system has Failed so many St Lucians our leadership included.

The lack of video evidence does not prove that the instances of levitation did not take place. I must admit that this article was well written, and it’s clear where you stand when it comes to religion, or for this matter, God. As a science teacher myself, I have come to realize that science never produce all the answer. Mr. King, how do you explain the ouija board, or instances of demon possession I have seen first hand and of which I dared not take video evidence to leave scenes of this sobering experience upon my mind. In the court of law eye witnesses are very valuable and credible. Are you saying that everyone who experience the effects of this challenge, the levitating desks at more than one school, the levitating paper at my school, are all lying, of hallucinating?

Fantastic letter, beautifully written and as a science teacher myself I thoroughly endorse these words – when I was growing up the phrase ‘he is a right proper Charlie’ meant a person had displayed a high level of idiocy and this surely applies to the reactionary and superstitious response of the MOE here!

Lovely article Ozzy. But it strikes me that even within the religious perspective, even within spirituality there is a fear of spiritual activity that doesn’t manifest in mundane ways in the manner of fortuitousness, surrendipity or coincidence. This is why all other forms of ostensible spiritual activity is immediately decorated in the usual darkness: evil, demon, etc. We are doubly removed from enlightenment by the dominance of Christian epistemology. Kongo religion, even Obeah obeys science-like principles and possesses its own active form of scepticisms that leaves room edgewise for physical explanations for phenomena without necessarily claiming authority in explaining that or all phenomena. That is part of the church’s problem, its dominance and hubris. It feels that it is there to explain to us the whole world. That is why I like the obeah man perspective. Gives me a comfortable middle ground: “Obeah is a science from God”. God for them (along with the devil) created the world, the rest is science. God fades into the indifference of an element and man must exploit and negotiate his world from there.
