The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists held a press conference on Wednesday, June 3rd at their Vide Bouteille office to unveil plans for the annual Harvest Ingathering humanitarian campaign. Members of the local media were invited to attend.

The Director for Health, Publishing and Community Services, Pastor Lucius Philip delivered an official address reaffirming the mission’s commitment to bear light to the local community through acts of compassion directed towards the underprivileged and dispossessed.

Pastor Philip also informed the media that solicitors can be identified through their ingathering cards and magazines. The magazines highlight the humanitarian work that the church has done in the past as well as its continued commitment to do the same.

Executive Secretary of the Seventh-day Adventist Mission, Pastor Alexander Biscette was also in attendance to assist in the question and answer segment. He described the Harvest Ingathering campaign as part of the church’s ongoing efforts in meeting the holistic needs of the community. According to him, the church reaches out beyond the realm of only preaching on doctrinal subjects to also meeting the people at the point of their critical needs.

Organizers are hopeful that as with Harvest Ingathering campaigns of times past, this year’s effort will continue to improve the quality of life of many who otherwise might not even be able to afford their most basic necessities.

The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists was established in 1998 to govern the operations of the local body of believers on island. Today, Pastor Johnson Frederick serves as President, Pastor Alexander Biscette as Executive Secretary and Sis. Rose M. Desir as Treasurer.
