The Saint Lucia Tourist Board showcased its star appeal as well as its ‘agent appeal’ at WTM 2012. The UK Tourist Board team took to the stand as their favourite X Factor Judge Tulisa Contostavlos, who visited the island earlier this year, to celebrate the surge in enquiries and bookings following this year’s X Factor Judge’s House shows.
UK visitors have grown strongly during 2012, helped by working closely with the industry and through aggressive marketing. Arrivals up to August 2012 showed a 7.6% increase year on year and the recent X Factor partnership is likely to see a further boost following the increase in enquires after the ITV X Factor airing.
At WTM this year the Saint Lucia Tourist Board updated tour operators and agents on the island’s newest developments, visitor numbers, trade initiatives and marketing campaigns. Saint Lucia offers the widest variety of activities of any island in the eastern Caribbean, everything from adventure hikes to zip wiring, and the island is keen to leverage its lead position in this arena by pushing its soft adventure, cultural and sports credentials.
