TravelJamii (Jamii which means community in Swahili) is a new travel app which aims to support the global travel community like never before. The app provides travelers with inside information that will not only make their trip planning seamless but offer them unique and authentic experiences that will make their travels more memorable. In addition, the app brings exposure to the “local” businesses in many destinations that may not have been showcased before.
TravelJamii is easy to use and features content that is not typically highlighted in the mainstream travel apps and publications. It includes travel guides, historic and cultural references, sites and attractions, tours, information on dining and entertainment including recipes for national dishes, links to travel deals, services, and a travel blog.
The app was developed by Caribbean nationals Nigel Jones and Shannon Japal Jones, owners of Pieces Technology, a company that has been developing mobile applications for the last six years and have developed over 32 apps and 56 websites globally. The team also has over 40 years of experience in travel, hospitality, and community tourism. “We really want to highlight information people love about travel as well as to showcase the diverse and rich culture of every destination, so that travelers can enjoy a more authentic experience,” stated Nigel Jones, developer of TravelJamii.
Currently, TravelJamii features 97 countries and has partnered with over 50 businesses in the Travel and Tourism industry worldwide including USA, England, Canada, Ireland, Denmark, Brazil to name a few, and that number will continue to grow. TravelJamii has also partnered with Countrystyle Community Tourism, a community based organization supporting community tourism in Jamaica. Since launch, the app has been downloaded 65,000 times in over 35 countries including the Caribbean. Travel Jamii APP is being launched in St.Lucia this month.
