The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) revealed Tuesday that two 16-year-olds were charged for the offense of murder following investigations into the death of 17-year-old Daniel Laurent. The fatal shooting occurred at White Rock, Dennery in March.
The teenager, police said, was “shot multiple times about the body” and was pronounced dead on the scene by a medical practitioner.
Public Relations Officer of the RSLPF, Corporal Ann Joseph, provided an update on this and other homicides during a press briefing.
She stated: “On the 21st of May 2021, Nicron Oneal Baptiste who is 16 years old and Haze Lamille, a 16-year-old of Dennery, were arrested and charged for the murder of Daniel Laurent alias Sticky. And that incident occured on the 30th of March 2021 at White Rock, Dennery. They are both remanded in custody and are due to reappear before the court on the 23rd of July, 2021.
Joseph continued: “The Major Crime Unit of the RSLPF also arrested and charged Miguel Lucien alias Concrete on the 18th of June 2021 for causing the death of Tysha Raphael and Jason Polius, as well as the attempted murder of two other males. And this was in relation to the incident which occurred on the 23rd of May 2021, about 9:05 pm at Bois Den, Jacmel. Miguel Lucien remains in custody pending a sufficiency hearing.
“The Major Crime Unit also arrested and charged Mcguiver Jean during a police operation. He was arrested in connection with the murder of Tony Edmund which occurred on the 17th of May, 2021 at Cul De Sac. He was charged on the 25th of June 2021 and he was remanded into custody. His next hearing is scheduled for the 20th of July, 2021,” Joseph stated.
