Spartans who are two time losing finalist of the over 40 Veterans Football Tournament, made a return to the tournament by finishing on top in the Veterans Playoff Qualifying Socceramma series held Sunday at the La Ressource Playing Field in Mabouya Valley.
The Playoff Qualifying Socceramma which was scheduled to have eight teams participate saw only four teams compete, namely Spartans, Prophets and Kings, Anse La Raye and hosts Mabouya Valley. All four have qualified for the tournament which kicks off Sunday afternoon at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.
Spartans topped the round robin socceramma with six points, followed by Mabouya Valley with four points, Anse La Raye placed third also on four points with Prophets and Kings fourth with two points.
In the matches played Sunday: Anse La Raye 0 Prophets and Kings 0; Anse La Raye 2 Mabouya Valley 1, Spartans 1 Prophets and Kings 0, Mabouya Valley 1- Prophets and Kings 1, Spartans 1 Anse La Raye 0, Mabouya Valley 2 Spartans 1.
The groupings and the match ups for the opening day of the tournament will be released later this week.
