VIEUX FORT STUDENTS MOTIVATED TO EXCEL

That education, information and knowledge are the key to any thriving society is something that is not lost upon Axcel Finance, the leading micro-finance company in the OECS.

This week, hundreds of school children from Vieux Fort, where Axcel Finance opened its second branch last year, returned to the classroom with brand new school bags and essentials, thanks to the company. The timely contribution was made on August 26th by Country Manager of Axcel Finance, Mrs. Hermina Danzie-Vitalis, to the Vieux Fort – South parliamentary representative, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Dr. the Hon. Kenny D. Anthony.

Mrs. Vitalis expressed Axcel Finance’s pleasure in providing school bags, schoolbook covers and pens to the children of the community of Vieux Fort. “We are well aware that some families may have more than one school child and the cost of providing school essentials at this time is indeed high. It is on this very basis that Axcel Finance impact on lives in meaningful ways, with education being at the centrefold of our corporate social responsibility,” she said.

According to Mrs. Vitalis, Axcel Finance has been proud to serve hundreds of small business owners in the south with the aim of making a difference in their communities and in the lives of their families.

In accepting the gift of school bags and supplies on behalf of the recipients, Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Kenny D. Anthony remarked: “I am really very pleased that Axcel Finance has grown to be solid partners in the development of Saint Lucia – partners with the people of Saint Lucia and the Government of Saint Lucia. They are making vital difference to the people of this country.”

The Prime Minister went on to note that Axcel Finance is not just about making loans available. “They are reaching out to the community and this is a magnificent way to reach out, to make lives a little bit more pleasant for our children and for the parents,” he pointed out.

In addition to the school bags, thousands of beautifully designed book covers were distributed which include motivational quotes to encourage the students to excel in school. One of the quotes is by Nelson Mandela who said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
