The second edition of the Commercial Volleyball League 2013, saw yet another exciting weekend of volleyball at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
Last Friday WASCO faced off against Goddard Group of Companies. Ed Mathurin and female national setter Tramaine Chassang, watered down WASCOs efforts winning the match two sets to nil.
The Royal St Lucia Police Force got trigger happy on Windward & Leeward Brewery Limited (WLBL), unleashing their entire armoury. They took this one with ease two sets to nil.
The third and final match of the evening saw Consolidated Foods Limited (CFL), face off against the undefeated NSDC. A thriller of a match it was, as Gillan Octave (national power hitter) played for the first time in this tournament. He took charge of his team and led them to victory against the onslaught of attacks from Mustaphar Felicien and Dervin Joseph.
Last Saturday defending champions ECFH took on WLBL to start the evening. With former employee and last years’ MVP Amobi Armstrong cheering them on from the stands, ECFH won this one pretty easy, with great blocking by Ryan Devaux.
The second match of the evening saw the undefeated C Beverages CBS) take on NSDC. The match was filled with point changes and rallies as the two teams battled-CBS to secure the first place in their group and NSDC to secure second. C Beverages took this on in straight sets.
The closer for the night and prelims was WASCO taking on CFL. WASCO was seeking their first win of this tournament, while CFL eyed their second win to put them in good position in the quarterfinals.
The match remained close the entire way and came to a third set tie-breaker which saw CFL the victor.
