Despite persistent mid morning showers the youth teams of Marchand and VSADC braved the elements as they engaged in four friendly matches on Saturday at the SAB Playing Facility.

In the first match of the day, the VSADC Under-12 got the better of the Marchand team by 5-0. The score line was not indicative of a very close encounter which saw both teams enjoy periods of superiority. The goal scorers for VSADC were Malik Phillip with a brace, Isaiah Modeste, Ziggy Mathurin and Rijkard Glasgow son of former VSADC right back Tennyson “Chung” Glasgow, who scored a spectacular long range effort from inside the half way line.

The Under-14 was a closely contested battle with VSADC edging out the Marchand lads 2-1. The goal scorers for VSADC were Randy Serville and team captain Wilson Charlemagne. Marchand’s reply came courtesy of skilful Kean Sealy.

The Under-16 match ended 1-1 with both teams guilty of defensive blunders which resulted in own goals.

The feature match of the day was the Under-19 clash. This encounter was a hard fought affair, played with the level of intensity of a competitive match. Both teams tried to string passes, but the defenses were resolute as attacks were repelled with stiff tackles and tenacious man marking.
In the end VSADC snuck by, following a converted penalty kick by central defender Alex St Cyr.

After an enjoyable day of friendly competition and social interaction, the VSADC Youth Academy made a presentation of a complete set of uniforms and training jerseys to management of the Marchand youth team.

Following this series of friendly matches, the VSADC Youth Academy attendees will now focus on video analysis and individual assessments, ahead of their triangular tournament with Desruisseaux and Micoud.
