Warm ups continue for Blackheart

More promotional warm up matches and one playoff encounter for the 2013 Blackheart Knockout Football Tournament will be played this weekend at venues around the island.

Saturday afternoon from 4 p.m. at the Canaries Playing Field perennial Blackheart Tournament quarter finalist Canaries, come up against Castries in a warm up encounter. In another game that afternoon from 4:30 p.m. at the Micoud Playing Field FA Cup and Super League champions Marchand, takes on Mon Repos in another warm up encounter. Before that from 3 p.m, the finals of the Micoud Under 16 football competition will be played. At 6:30 p.m. the final of the Mon Repos Credit Union Cup will be played between Atlantic Ballers and Leeds.

On Sunday more warm matches are scheduled and there will be one playoff encounter. At the Laborie Playing Field from 4 p.m. Laborie go up against Vieux Fort South in a friendly encounter, while at the Canaries Playing Field from 4 p.m. Soufriere and Roseau Valley square off against each other.

At the La Guerre Playing Field in Babonneau on Sunday afternoon from 4 p.m. Gros Islet are down to come up against Anse La Raye, while from 6 p.m. in the first leg of a play off encounter Babonneau faces off against La Clery.

Babonneau are down to face La Clery in the return leg of the playoff encounter on Wednesday tentatively at the Sab Sporting Facility from 4:30 p.m.

The winner of the Babonneau/La Clery playoff tie will then meet Anse La Raye in a one off encounter in Anse La Raye on August 11, to determine the final and 16th spot for the 2013 Blackheart Knockout Football tournament.

Anse La Raye were the worst finishers in last year’s tournament finishing as the 16th placed team in the tournament, after a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Gros Islet.

Two foreign teams were scheduled to participate in this year’s tournament but they will not be able to participate this year.
