Wednesday Murder Rampage

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]olice investigations into the alleged operations of Verna Augustin, believed to have been a member of “the Graveyard crew,” has come to an abrupt halt following her death this week. Augustin, 24, a resident of Wilton’s Yard in Castries, was fatally shot on Wednesday. According to sources in National Security ministry “the police were preparing to execute a search of her premises the very morning she was killed.”

Pictured above is Verna Augustin who lost her life last Wednesday as a result of multiple gunshots wounds to her body.

The suspicion was that the deceased had been “the ring leader in a number of Castries burglaries.” Our sources cited a break-in at the Baywalk Mall that yielded some $25,000. Reliable sources told the STAR that police were investigating the possibility that Augustin’s death resulted from a gang-related feud. Reportedly, she lost a brother in a similar feud some years ago. Another brother is currently serving time in a Martinique prison. Augustin’s death brings to 26 the number of homicides so far this year.
