The 2009 OECS Cycling Champion Sydney Charles placed 12th out of 72 riders in the first Stage of the Tour of Washington County 70 miles Road Race PRO 1-2-3 category.? Charles is expected here for this weekend’s National Championship Road Race which will cover just over 70 miles. The route is from Castries to Ravine Poison, return to Pigeon Island junction and back to Castries twice, returning from Ravine Poison on the second lap via Goodlands instead of the Millennium highway which will used on the first lap.
Fidel Mangal is also expected to compete following his recent return from a five month training stint in Cuba.
Defending Champion and Cyclist of the Year, Kurt Maraj will have some serious competition from last year’s runner-up Mangal and Charles. Can one of them break the Maraj domination, or can he fend off the challenge as he recovers from a minor injury?
