This space is eerily quiet. For one thing I would have liked to hear comments like these to come from recognised professionals and professional bodies. I think most of the comments therein are well warranted. I also know that the fiscal reality is dismal. Right now we can point fingers or we can choose to deal with the situation sooner than later. We need to hear from the ‘economists’ in this country, the business sector and the professional organisations who all have a large stake in the economy of this country. wasting of money..Just one example..The fire station down town..Per month what is the cost to rent..for the las five years..
The could have built 5 stations with what they have wasted on rent..
Look at the other buildings the government rents..
Making the rich richer..Quit wasting the peopls money..Wake up..Dont blame it on the every one elst..
If you make 50 million in one year..YOU CAN’T SPEND 70 million..

These are the facts and statistics we need to remember when considering our vote at the next elections, but the HACKS would deny it and still claim that better days are truly here; until they remove their red-tinted glasses they won’t see it like the rest of us.

Govt’s, both past and present have borrowed and spent wrecklessly as they’re not the ones who will bear the future burden of poor decisions. Upon leaving office they normally land big overseas jobs, while the results of their ineptitude linger far and wide across the Island.

We get the govt we deserve when we forget the core issues affecting the country and instead praise the politicians “en rouge” and “flambeau”!!!!

I would like to agree with everything the writer said as to the culpability of the SLP administration but to try to absolve the UWP administration of any blame just will not fly with me. The problem we have is a lack of an economic strategy and fiscal restraint on the part of both administrations. Add Frenwell, Rochamell, Taiwanese Funds Scandal, consultants scam to employ the well connected, Daher building, NCA etc. etc.. and both parties are indicted. There is a time when all our excesses come back to bite us and it is usually when our backs are against the wall. By the way angry wage and salary hungry unions and weak leadership in the face of their onslaught must feature in the reason…
