This journalist is absolutely right! Also Ms Corbin is NOT a certified auditor for ANY ISO standard (9001, 17025 etc) . These are the only international standards that the audit would be conducted against. She is not registered with ANY international forensic institutional body so even her credentials and expertise has not been peer reviewed . What is going on here?

That situation was inevitable. It is as though it was being run to fail. Become a satellite lab of the Barbados forensic lab. Might have been the initial plan.

But is shows the Ministry of Legal Affairs is totally out of depth running a scientific facility. That is what happwens when Ministers of government assume personal responsibility for running things in their Ministry

In the real world if CCTV cameras were found to be not in operation for 2 years in a crime hot spot and one or two murders happened right there and then weeks later the crime lab is in a fiasco and closed the Minister responsible would have to step down or be asked to

Interesting article on a really shameful saga. We are back to square 1 with the Barbados factor which has hindered much forensic development here. Barbados will be our No. 1 forensic competitor within the OECS so I am always at a loss how our Govt. insists on having the head of their lab to advise and work for St. Lucia. Doesn’t make sense. Then how do you shut down your lab send persons home, a lab containing sensitive exhibits and turn it over to an outsider. Is that how the govt respects their staff. But that is not the first time this whole scenario is being played out. The St. Lucia lab will soon become a satellite Barbados lab. The initial plan. A whole sad and unfortunate affair which the ministry must take responsibility for.

In the real world of accountability when the head of a ministry of national security cannot adequately explain how CCTV cameras remain for 2 years in crime hot spot area and following that the only crime lab collapses then that head either voluntarily or is asked to step down

The situation is outrageous.
When will the ministers get their heads out of the sand? They should be ashamed of themselves.
Those awaiting justice cannot but despair. We are we supposed to do? When will someone show that they care?
