The XS Productions Team is set to host its 17th annual Kite-Flying Festival on Easter Monday, April 6, 2015 at Pigeon Island (near Sandals Grande Resort). The event is called “Kites on Cloud 9” and is a family-oriented event started back in 1998 to encourage the tradition of kite-flying and kite-making, which was in decline.
Registration will begin at 10:30 am on the day of the competition for four classes of competitors: Juniors, Adults, Groups, and The New Flying Aces.
There are eight categories to be judged this year:? Biggest Flying Kite, Highest Flying Kite, Longest Flying Kite, Smallest Flying Kite, Most Colourful Kite, Most Patriotic Kite, Scariest Design Kite, Most Creative/Innovative Kite.
Ready-made kites can be registered for the competition but only in the Highest and Longest Flying categories. Homemade kites will be judged for their flying capabilities, workmanship and colour.
The XS Productions Annual Easter Kite-Flying Festival is the longest running family outdoor event on the island and the XS Production team encourages parents and children to get creative with the kites and participate in the festival.
Sponsors for the event are Aeropost, Sandals and RCI, in addition to St. Lucia Distillers, Digicel and 1st National Bank.
