Young Strikers of Dennery and Guyanese from Desruisseaux are the first two qualifiers for the finals of the 2013 Guinness Street Challenge Small Goals football competition.
They earned their spots from the first of eight preliminary qualifying stops for the 2013 Guinness Street Challenge Small Goals football competition Sunday evening at the Dennery Multi-Purpose Court.
In the final of the Dennery leg, Young Strikers won over Guyanese 3-1 on penalties after the score
was locked 2-2 at normal time.
Six teams placed into two groups of three with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the next stage, was the format used for the Dennery leg.
The 2013 Guinness Street Challenge train rolls to Vieux Fort on Saturday then on to Desruisseaux Sunday.
In other related news, Dennery senior player Junior “Shoo” Cox brought the house down in the ball juggling and skills section of the proceedings. As a result, he has qualified for the grand finals of the Skills and Ball Juggling segment— a new feature of the tournament
this year. The finals of the skills and ball juggling competition will also be held on the Cacabef in Vieux Fort, the same day as the finals of the team competition.
