The 2012 Summer Splash Swim Meet came to a successful conclusion on Saturday at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center, with eight Age Group records established and the Racers Swim Club capturing the meet team championship for the second consecutive year. Racers grabbed the top spot reflecting their decision to train right through the summer under Coach Brad Worrell.
Following in order of finish are the team standings: Racers Swim Club, 1428.5; Sharks Swim Club St Lucia, 896; Sea Jays Swim Club, 768; Black Sands Swim Squad St Vincent, 540; Lightning Aquatics Swim Club, 433.5; Southern Flying Fish, 341; Cobra Swim Club,179; Wadadli Racers Swim Club Antigua, 85. The youngsters were the stars of the show with the following eight national Age Group records being established. Female Eight and Under 200 Free: Adriana Gooding, 3:19.49 (Sharks); Female Eight and Under 50 Back, Adriana Gooding, 48.11 (Sharks); Female Nine-10 100 Fly, Katelin Samuel, 1:29.83 (Sharks); Male Nine-10 100 Back, Niall Bergasse, 1:25.10 (Sea Jays); Male Nine-10 100 Fly, Ethan Dyke-Elliott, 1:24.21 (Sea Jays); Male 11-12 200 Breast, Jyasi Daniel, 3:01.02 (Sharks); Male 13-14 200 Breast, Stefon Emmanuel, 2:55.46 (Racers); Male 15-17 800 Free, Jonathon McLennon, 11:51.43 (Racers).
The Summer Splash meet had in attendance six local clubs, one club out or St Vincent and one from Antigua. The Summer Splash has the unique time slot which is the end of summer holidays. It is used by the various clubs to wash off the summer cobwebs, jumpstart the swimmers for the new school year and swimming calendar. The age group point’s winners are as follows: Six and Under Girls, Jorja Medrick, Racers Swim Club, (79); Six and Under Boys, D’Andre Blanchard, Lightning Aquatics Swim Club (99); Seven to Eight Girls, Adriana Gooding, Sharks Swim Club St. Lucia (70); Seven to Eight Men, Ethan Prospere, Racers Swim Club (102); Nine to 10 Girls, Katelin Samuel, Sharks Swim Club St. Lucia (92); Nine to 10 Men, Ethan Dyke-Elliott, Sea Jays Swim Club (77); 11-12 Girls, Abbie Pultie, Racers Swim Club (95); 11-12 Boys, Jyasi Daniel, Sharks Swim Club St Lucia (90); 13-14 Girls, Kyra Joseph, Racers Swim Club (82); 13-14 Men, Anthony Francois, Racers Swim Club (82); 15-17 Girls, Laura Bruce, Sharks Swim Club St. Lucia (79); 15-17 Boys, Jonathon McLennon, Racers Swim Club (111); 18 and Over Women, Christiane Beaubrun, Sea Jays Swim Club (72); 18 and Over Men, Julien Brice, Sharks Swim Club, St. Lucia (108). The meet was organized and managed by the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center and coordinated by Dr Diane Worrell. The meet was by all measures a success with support from the local clubs and those from St Vincent and Antigua.
