A group of dedicated, farsighted, and hardworking private sector and nonprofit firms are taking proactive approach to economic stimulation and employment creation through the sponsorship of the Nail Tech Association. The objective of the Nail Tech Association is to provide venture capital for 25 young person’s to access startup finance to start nail tech businesses as well as provide existing professional nail techs with wholesale products and bulk shipping direct from Asia to reduce their operating cost.
This youth empowerment project seeks to help unemployed and vulnerable women and youth engage in productive activities through entrepreneurship and employment.
The Nail Tech Association will seek to embark on an island wide roadshow to identify 25 youngsters ages 17-25 and provide them with an opportunity to access start -up financing to pursue their dream in the nail tech sector. These road shows will be held in conjunction with the community development officers to ensure the opportunity is available to all young persons within this age group.
Cognizant, NSDC has provided training for the past 10 years in the field of cosmetology, they have confirmed statistics which indicate thousands have been trained and the market is now saturated with persons trained in this field. As it exists, there is sufficient potential to grow as well as create sound structure towards the encouragement of economic growth during this recession, as studies in United States and Asia have proven that businesses in nail tech sector has proven to be recession proof.
CEO for Q Homes, Stacey McVane says the survival of retail is dependent on existing entrepreneurs, and their ability to create linkages among start ups and existing businesses which share similar values. It is this thinking which will create the biggest impact on employment and ultimately lead to economic stimulation in the long run.
While this is the first small step, the initiative will result in a long-lasting impact on the sector as existing nail technicians will now be given a “home” where the combined efforts of this group of diverse professionals can make an impact on the National Cosmetology sector.
What makes this group noteworthy is the minimal one time membership fee of $10.00 for Start-up and $25.00 for existing businesses. Hence no one is excluded nail and professionals can join the growing ranks and redefine the structure of the industry.
