Successful Summer Festival Swim Meet

At the conclusion of the summer holidays, the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center hosted a successful Summer Festival Swim Meet which saw one national record and eleven age group records being established.

Held over the weekend the meet was also dominated by the Racers Swim Club, who amassed the most points of the seven participating clubs. There were five local clubs and one each from Trinidad and St Vincent with a grand total of 150 swimmers.

The national record was established by Thalia Bergasse in the 1500m free with a time of 21:02.66. The age group records were set by the following swimmers: Jenna Lee Campbell in 50m breast (48.56, eight and under); Naima Hazzell in 100 m breast (1:51.68, eight and under); Katie Kyle in 25 m free and 50m free (14.44 and 31.98, nine to10 age group); Veronica Brown in 1500 m free (25:10.23, 11-12 age group); Eden Crick in 400 m IM (6:17.82, 11-12 age group); Vanessa Eugene in 400 m IM (7:57.90, 18 and over); Jayhan Odlum Smith in 25m free (14.77, nine to10 age group); Jyasi Daniel in 200m breast (2:48.93, 13-14 age group);Vanessa Eugene in 800 m free (15:19.64, 18 and over).

Following in order of finish are the team scores: Racers Swim Club (1,314. 50); Sharks Swim Club (873. 50) Point Fortin Aqua Darts (826); Sea Jays Swim Club (709. 50); Lightning Aquatics Swim Club (541. 50); Black Sands Swim Squad (171); Cobra Adventures Swim Club   (152).
