15-year-old shot in the leg

On Thursday 21st June 2012, about 2:10 pm, Officers attached to the Richfond Police Station responded to a shooting incident which occurred at New Field Dennery.
Upon arrival at the scene, information received revealed a 13-year-old of Richfond; Dennery was walking along the New Field road when a 15 year old of Micoud attempted to rob her of her La Coste school bag.
It is also reported that at the time of this alleged incident two off duty police officers were present and attempted to apprehend the assailant who, according to police pulled out a knife and gesticulated violently. One of the officers who were armed discharged a round hitting him in the leg.
He was transported to Victoria Hospital where he was treated and discharged.                 The young man is currently in police custody and is expected to be charged for the following offences: Attempted robbery, Assault with a dangerous weapon, Resisting arrest.
An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
